Lynne dal Poggetto, M.L.S., M.A.

To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying
Amen to what the world tells you you ought to prefer,
Is to have kept your soul alive.

                          Robert Louis Stevenson, 1850-1894

I decided to become a career consultant because I wanted to work more closely with people. My deep belief is that the relationship between client and counselor is a sacred trust. I feel joy when I experience one of my clients being launched on a career path that is meaningful and right for them. I know that every person has innate gifts and talents to give back into the world.

In addition, I have an expertise in ADD/LD issues in the workplace. Every year, I attend the CHADD conference and keep current with recent research and literature.

I derive a lot of satisfaction from connecting people with resources. I worked for several years as a reference librarian at Alumnae Resources/Lifeprint in San Francisco.

For ten years, I was the image researcher for Joseph Campbell’s Transformation of the Myth Through Time as well as other documentaries shown on PBS. Moreover, I did image research for films, lectures and books for various publishers e.g. Harper San Francisco, The Hero’s Journey and Brian Swimme’s The Story of the Universe. I like to incorporate images, myths, poems and/or quotes into my counseling when I feel that it is appropriate for the client.

My approach to career development is client- centered, eclectic and holistic. I believe that the whole person comes to see me: their spirit, their intellect, their emotions and their body.

As the American poet Mary Oliver asks, "Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" The Summer Day, 1935
