Linda Lesem, M.S. (Clinical Psychology)
Career Counselor, Life Coach
My Clients
I specialize in working with a variety of people who are in transition and seek positive change in their lives. My clients are at a turning point, where they are ready for introspective exploration in order to uncover their talents, strengths, interests and personal values. I guide them to take these insights, brainstorm possibilities, and create a practical plan that stays true to who they are, and works well in their life.
I offer both expertise and support throughout this process. I help clients sort through the clutter, and highlight important themes and patterns so possibilities have a place to grow and build momentum.
How do I help my clients create change?
I use my intuition and my learned skills as a therapist, career counselor and coach, to first understand the unique complexity of each of my clients, and then I inspire, educate, and motivate.
When I help my clients to understand and “see” themselves, they become energized and excited about “what can be” in their life and in their work. Through this process they move forward.
I use my therapy training to identify roadblocks that impede progress, and I give my clients the tools to recognize this behavior and move through it. I weave traditional assessments with creative techniques to help clients hone in on “who they are”, and then visualize “what is possible”. Motivating clients to move forward is what I enjoy most.
How do I work?
No two people are the same, so I tailor my approach to meet each client and their specific needs and wants.
After my clients uncover what is important and relevant to them, we take this information and connect “insight” to “possibilities”. Together we then create a step-by step plan that is both practical and exciting.
Positive Change Happens!
Background
I have counseled clients of all ages and in many different settings. I have worked in middle schools, high schools, colleges, agencies, and in private practice. I created Moms In Transition, a workshop for mothers that offers both support and techniques as they re-enter the paid working world. Beyond my practice at Bay Area Career Center, I am Senior Associate at Life + Work. My expertise is with individuals who are in transition, who are seeking to understand themselves, and desire positive change. They are willing to do the work necessary to move forward in their life and in their work. My clients are excited about discovering “who they are” and “what they can do” and are ready to dig in, to be committed to the process, and to move forward. When I help them in this process, then I have done my job.
