Welcome to the Bay Area Career Center's Career Advisor Bank (CAB), an online
database of professionals willing to give informational interviews to others
about their areas of expertise.
- Learn critical industry, company, and occupational information you can't easily
find in print resources.
- Gain contacts to grow your network and clarify your career goals and direction.
- Speak with professionals to discover what inspires people to choose and follow
their career dreams.
This CAB is similar to the Career Advisor Network at the former Alumnae
Resources/lifeprint. Guidelines for conducting an informational interview, sample
questions to ask, an inquiry email and a thank you email are provided.
To Use the CAB:
Search for advisors is based on industry categories (shown at left) or
company name. The cost is $30.00 for 2 months or contact with up to 5 selected advisors,
whichever occurs first. Click here to
sign up on our secure server.
To Be a Volunteer Advisor:
Offer a valuable community service and share your knowledge of your industry,
job function, or organization with other professionals investigating your field. Providing
informational interviews will enable you to expand your professional network . You will be
able to edit your own profile and select the number of informational interviews you are
willing to give each month. Users will expect to meet/speak with you at your convenience for
no more than 20-30 minutes and will be prepared with a list of questions to ask. They will
be informed of the protocol for conducting informational interviews and will understand that
this is not intended to be used for seeking a specific job. Click here to become an advisor.
